From the Architects:

The project known as for the transformation of the farmhouse into a residence, adapting the framework to the clients’ requirements by redesigning the interior layout, restoring and renovating the facades, and providing new mechanical systems. There was no improve to the present historic volumes. A series of service volumes in very bad conditions were demolished to reveal the building’s unique structure. The program named for the layout of a weekend house (540 square meters/5800 square feet) on 3 amounts to be used for the social and artistic daily life of the owners – a movie producer and an ar2rk collector. The developing is linked to the historic religious structure by a sandstone arch, contemporaneous with the Romanesque church. The Pieve (Church) of Santo Stefano in Cennano is found to the west of Castelmuzio along the Pieve nation road. The church was constructed on a sacred Etruscan site, evidenced by the numerous graves, urns and inscriptions unearthed in the spot. The site later became a pagan temple and last but not least a Christian church, situated along an crucial medieval pilgrimage route and rebuilt in the Romanesque design in the 2nd half of the 12th century. The 3 apses have survived even though the interior is now a single nave. The Parish declined in the 14th and 15th centuries until finally it was entirely abandoned. The church was restored in more recent times. The home annexed to the church (probably when used to host pilgrims along the pilgrimage route and a lot more recently as a farmhouse) was currently included in the Leopold Cadastre from 1865 but was presumably developed in prior eras.
