Schwartz and Architecture have designed a home in Nicasio, California.
Project description
Crook | Cup | Bow | Twist (categories of lumber deformation) refer to the latent potential energy of all natural techniques in direction of movement.
The proposal first analyzes the website as a series of current flows or “routes” across the landscape. The negotiation of each constructed and organic methods establishes the logic of the website prepare and the orientation and organization of the new home. Conceptually, the undertaking turns into a extremely choreographed knot at the center of these routes, drawing strands in, engaging them with other folks, and propelling them back out once again. The project’s intent is to capture and harness the bodily and ephemeral sense of these latent organic movements as a way to encourage in the architecture the wanderlust the surrounding landscape inspires. At heart, the client’s preliminary family members agenda–a residence as antidote to the city and basecamp for exploration–establishes the ethos and layout objectives of the work.
