See the rest of the rustic family members lake camp in part 2 of our tour.
This week, I traveled (almost) north to visit my pal Marsha’s idyllic summertime cottage – called a camp. The initial half of the Lake Camp tour started with a see of the back entrance [also over] due to the fact that’s the scenic side.
But I also want to present what the house seems like in front – in which the twig ‘Welcome’ signal hangs. I think it is so charming. And see people little windows? That is the guest room, in which I’ll take you shortly.
Within, there is a excellent space, with a hallway leading to the master bedroom, and a loft over.
The compact master demonstrates Marsha’s passion for vintage and antique furniture, like the red-painted iron bed and the quilt. I was intrigued by the tiny hanging shelf to the proper of the window. Marsha explains that it is her command center which “organizes my existence even though at camp…[a] place to pin enterprise cards, reminders and so on.” Whilst the furnishings seems basic and elemental most of it – like the blanket chest at the foot of the bed — is antique. The Euro sham-pillow in the center has a cheerful embroidered saying: “Good Morning.”
A single guest area is tucked below the eaves at the front of the home. Painted in Sherwin Williams “City Line,” it is the very same muted green utilised in the kitchen and baths. The bedroom is spacious ample for a twin bed at the other end. Windows all about contribute to the open-air come to feel of an old-fashioned sleeping porch.
Upstairs, the compact sleeping loft room holds 2 twin beds exactly where the grandchildren hang out. How could any kid not love a “camp Grandma” that’s this considerably fun.
2 identical baths house serve the master and other bedrooms. Every has American Standard’s “Standard Collection” pedestal sink and matching toilet.
The display porch, at the back of the very first floor boasts a 9-foot-lengthy red western cedar dining table and views of the lake on all sides!
A sitting spot, decked out in patriotic red-white-and-blue, is a excellent spot to take pleasure in cocktails at sundown. Wicker furniture from Lloyd Flanders is climate-resistant and the chaise is teak – no worries when a storm rolls although.
White-painted Adirondack chairs are a favorite of Marsha’s for both her houses. With their tall backs and low seats they are the best perch for daytime rest or a evening time marshmallow roast when the firepit’s roaring. Day or evening, the clear blue water and picturesque setting can make any visitor want to enjoy the real goal of camp, and “Go Leap in the Lake.”
Marsha also opened her Virginia Farmhouse for an unique Atticmag tour!
