Hi, guys! It is Mandi. I don’;t know about you, but I am so ready for the spotted trend we’;ve been seeing pop up in trend the previous couple of many years. I am not confident if we’;re supposed to call it dalmatian print specifically… I think we can thank Cruella de Vil for taking away that privilege. But just painting a spotted pattern on a pair of pumps here or a modest wall there is totally acceptable these days.
I believed a exciting way to add a jolt of spottiness to our house would be to paint a pair of curtains with the pattern. I employed an inexpensive pair of cotton sheers from Planet Marketplace and a tiny fabric paint, and voilà! Spotty entertaining for all.
Supplies:
-cotton curtains (mine are from right here)
-material paint
-paint brush
-cup + water
-drop cloth (I ended up making use of plastic wrap)
Step A single: Slightly dilute the fabric paint with a bit of water. It should be thick enough to not easily drip off the paint brush. If it is as well thin, it will bleed into the fabric. A small bleeding is good—it offers the search of spots on fur.
Stage 2: Function your way across and down the curtain, generating irregular spots in various sizes. Don’;t make the spots too huge, or they’;ll seem like cow print. Completely not en vogue. Paint some spots closer together and some farther apart. Irregularity is key. Do not move the material although any of the paint is wet, or you will end up with smeared material, and that would be a tragedy.
Critical Guidelines: My first word of caution is to not perform in a space with carpet or textiles nearby. You are working with black fabric paint right after all! Also, I know I showed paper as a provide, but I quickly found that paper was not a good backdrop materials. The paint dried onto it, and when I attempted to peel off the curtain, the paper caught to the fabric. I ended up wrapping my tabletop in saran wrap, and that worked nicely.
These curtains are going to go in tiny Lucy’;s subsequent bedroom—Yes, we’;re presently planning her huge lady space! I consider I’;ll stack them within a pair of heavy weight curtains in a fairly shade, like coral. The spotted pattern will look much more subtle alongside some considerable curtains, I feel. Though they seem beautiful on their personal as well! -Mandi
