Whitehall Black property by Aussie architecture firm Jolson, is the culmination of a complex and tough quick to reconstruct a contemporary farmhouse about personal and odd remnant fragments of the pre-current dwelling. Drawing inspiration and power from our passionate consumers, this undertaking was an exploration into recycling components and the background of the previous farmhouse our clientele had constructed with their hearts and hands. One particular brick fireplace, 2 bluestone walls, 3 timber trusses and a pool presented the impetus for the way forward.
The layout borrows from the Australian rural tradition and is characterised by 2 stylised contemporary corrugated iron sheds. The black exterior recedes into the shadows of the landscape to contextually engage with the surroundings. Every volume is broken by courtyards to increase all-natural light and ventilation. The covered verandas defend the residence from the harsh atmosphere.
The white interior is a graphic canvas that offers space to the client’s eclectic furnishings. Doors and floors have been recycled and re-presented with honesty and depth and careful consideration.
I love the typography metal lower door. So special and fascinating. Also the feeling of a residence inside a residence tends to make it truly feel warm, inviting and safe.
