South Korea’s Studio Il Hoon Roh suspended string at different heights to produce the curved shape of ‘Luno’, a constrained edition armchair constructed of woven carbon fibre.
“Luno, which implies ‘curve’ in Latin, is manufactured of carbon fibre string woven with each other by hand and is an extension of the Rami series [a preceding carbon fibre series].” says Studio Il Hoon Roh.
“Through experiments carried out by suspending a string at a lot of distinct positions, the designer allowed gravity to shape the final kind, resulting in a curvature which is smooth and all-natural.”
“To materialize this curve, a hexagonal form was employed on the surface, and carbon fibre strings were woven from such surface to the metal base.”
