Balance Associates Architects developed a home situated in the Capitol Hill community of Seattle, Washington.

The Capitol Hill Residence is positioned on a ridge with a 180 degree view of the surrounding lakes and mountains. The kind of the house cantilevers off its concrete base on 3 sides in order to keep within the footprint of the previous house.
A bulk of the glazing is positioned on the eastern side of the house to capture the view and to offer privacy from neighbors. The center section of the property is made as a translucent slot to filter daylight into the core. This area serves as the principal circulation area in the residence and is planned to contain a translucent stair and bridge.
Sustainable programs include a rain water catchment program in the kind of an entry water function, solar panels, and solar shading in addition to our common sustainable developing practices this kind of as high amounts of insulation, minimal-e glazing, and variety of environmentally pleasant components.
